Hybrid Retirement Card

Hybrid is when you mix digital with traditional papercrafting. I find I'm doing that more and more lately. For this card, all the sentiments are from My Digital Studio. I planned their placement on the card base within the program and printed it out right on my home printer. For the ones on the white circles (& the inside sentiment in a large circle), I just printed & punched. I love that I can combine just the right digital elements with real ink and embellishments!
I made two of these to give to my amazing administrative team here at my school. Yes, both my principal & AP are retiring (big changes for next year!).

Here are the supplies I used:
Crumb Cake, Whisper White, & Basic Black (inside sentiment) cardstock
Stamps: Circle Circus
Ink: Tangerine Tango, Pacific Point, So Saffron
Stampin' Dimensionals
Circle punches
MDS Stamp Brush sets: You're a Gem ("Enjoy" "love life...live life"), Piece of Cake ("Celebrate"), Best wishes & More (inside sentiment:"Wishing you all this... and more!")

I hope you like my sample today. thanks for stopping by!

Sneaky Peeky!

Here is a quick and very simple card I made to show Stampin' Up's new In Colors for 2012-14. I got my sneak peek order in the big brown box today and got right to work in my studio! :) The colors are called (left to right) Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, Gumball Green, Summer Starfruit, and Midnight Muse. The butterflies were stamped using a new stamp set called Papaya Collage (I foresee so many wonderful possibilities with this one!). I used Primrose Petals cardstock embossed with the Polka Dot Embossing Folder to accent the inside. I edged the bottom of the card front with the Adorning Accents Embossing Folder and Framelits die. The ribbon is the new Gumball Green Stitched Ribbon. Finally, I added our Rhinestones to put on the finishing touch. I left a sentiment off on purpose.Ii will add one when I decide the purpose for the card. ;)
The new In Colors and sneak peek products can be purchased from our new 2012-13 Catalog beginning June 1.

Squeeeeeaaaaalllllll! Exciting news about My Digital Studio!

My Digital Studio 2 will be released soon, with so many great new features...stuff that will make digital designing even easier! I'm so stinkin' excited (Can you tell?). :) Yay! Yay! Yay! Watch this SU! video for the details:
It is so amazing to represent a company that really listens to it's demonstrators and customers wants & needs! These improvements have been requested and heard! SU! is making great software even better.

Keep in mind that if you purchase MDS between now & when MDS2 is released, you will get the upgrade for FREE! No reason to wait! If you are already a lucky MDS owner and user, the upgrade will only cost you $20...and worth every penny in my humble opinion! Thanks, Stampin' Up!

Head on over to my digital store to get started with digital designing!

No Peeking, Mom!

Here is the card I made for my mom and MIL for Mother's Day. The Designer Series Paper and brad are no longer available. They were part of Sale-a-Bration this year. But the technique I did here can be used with any DSP and embellishment (brad, glimmer brad, button, rhinestone, pearl, etc...).  I placed Stampin' Dimensionals around the punch opening and placed a scrap of DSP, just big enough to fit underneath. It creates a cool shadowy effect. Then I attached the whole thing to the card base with more Stampin' Dimensionals. And I love, love, love the texture that the Square Lattice Embossing Folder provides. It almost feels like fabric...a handmade paper softness... so cool!
Here are the materials I used for this card:
Very Vanilla cardstock
Fancy Flower Punch (118073)
Stampin' Dimensionals (104430)
Square Lattice textured Impressions Embossing Folder (119976)
Crumb Cake 3/8 inch Taffeta Ribbon (122966)
Well Scripted Stamp Brush Set digital download(121064)
All products can be purchased from my Stampin' Up! online store. Have a great day! Thanks for stopping by!

Friendly Monkeys

This tree full of playful little monkeys was created using retiring stamps. It required some "fussy cutting" around the monkeys, but the dimensional results were worth it. Don't you think?

Mama's Baby

Believe it or not, THIS big 7 year old
used to be THIS cute little guy!
and I have the pictures on a scrapbook page to prove it! ;)

Another great thing about My Digital Studio.... it is the easiest way to go back in time, dig into your older photos and get them properly showcased for your family's enjoyment! These photos are from 2006. That was right about the time that my previous scrapbooking addiction slowed down almost to a screeching halt (the fourth baby sure does limit your free time!) Anyway, I do not feel overwhelmed to get back in there and get those photos on pages and those stories told because My Digital Studio makes it so easy!
BTW this layout is a project from Heather Summers' My Digital Studio Made Simple 2 online class. She is so inspirational! Scroll back to my older blog posts or message me if you are interested in more information.

My Digital Studio page- engagement

Have I mentioned that I love this software? It makes the process of digital designing so simple and straight-forward, yet still gives me the ability to play around and show my creative side!
Here is a page I made to show off my beautiful diamond (woot! woot!) and tell my engagement story from October. I used a huge variety of kits and digi supplies to create this one. The best part? They are not used up! I can use them over and over again, in different ways on scrapbook pages and other projects to my heart's content! Digital designing is sooooo cool!
Here is the supply list for this layout:
Stamps: Vintage Overlays Texture #1, Twitterpated Kit (flowers), Always (heart), Be Mine  (Love), Simple Snapshots (the Beauty of Life), Tickets and Tags (flourish), Thoughtful Overlays (journaling lines)
DSP: Beau Chateau, Early Espresso Textured Cardstock, Downtown Grunge Kit (40% opacity)
Embellishments: Pearls, stitches, Crochet Trim, Taffeta Trimmings Medium Bow, Downtown Grunge Kit frame
Punches: Tasteful Trim, Eggceptional Easter Doily, Grad Party Flag, square
Font: Adage Script

Another retiring favorite!

Baroque Motifs is probably my all-time favorite, go-to stamp set! I inked this little friend up over and over!  I am sure I will continue using it long after it has been retired. It is so versatile!
For this card, I used my Stamp-a-Ma-Jig  to do the Shadow Stamping technique. I used the Scallop Trim Border & Corner punches for the mat.
This sample also shows two of my favorite tools which are also on that retirement list! The roughed up edges were made using the distressing blade on the Cutter Kit (love, love, LOVE that thing!!!) and the hearts were punched using the Heart to Heart Punch (such cute heart shapes!).

Here is a picture of the Baroque Motifs Stamp set:
Stop by my Stampin' Up! store to grab these products before May 31 (The retiring tools mentioned in this post will only be available while supplies last).
